Stop #50: Erie, PA

Stop #50: We are making progress towards home and adding another state to the list of those visited. Traffic wasn’t bad at all today so we made pretty good time getting to Erie. Upon arrival, I wanted to just stay at the camper and get packed up since we will be home in two days. However, I was guilted into going to do something touristy. Luna and I made our way to Presque Isle State Park.

That looks like it’s potentially something gross that she is licking.

It was very quiet and serene. It was getting dark so Luna wasn’t super interested in walking in the woods, but we walked around the water and by the light house. It was finally feeling like Fall and that was a welcome relief from the 85+ days we had been experiencing since Dallas the first time around.

The campground was nearly empty which is also another sign of the changing seasons. It was a little creepy to be amongst empty spaces, but also very peaceful. I’ve become much more comfortable being alone while on this trip than I ever have been. Not sure how that will play out when I get back, but it feels pretty good right now.

I was able to pack up a lot of our stuff when we got back to camp in preparation for bringing the camper to its storage place for the winter. Overall, I did a pretty good job packing for this trip, if I do say so myself. I used almost everything that I brought. There are definitely things I could have done without, but hey, not bad for a first timer.

Tomorrow is our last night on the road. I’m both excited and nervous to return home. I’m excited to be in one place, but also know that will definitely take some adjusting to. I have never been one to sit still very well and this trip has just fueled that fire. I have a lot to tackle when I get home, but will take that one day at a time.

Lesson of the Day: Don’t ever give up being a tourist, even if you’re tired. There is always more to see and wonders to experience. There’s time for packing and sleeping later.
