Stop #43: My little mishap in Dallas and my decision to drive back to Dallas rather than fly has given me some time and distance to visit some more friends. There’s the silver lining. Sarasota was a great stop where Luna and I got to visit with Kaitlyn, Ryan, Bailey and Baby Reid (arriving March 2017). While I definitely miss them in Boston, it was great to see them building a home together in Kaitlyn’s hometown.
The drive from Savannah to Sarasota was a long one, and that part of Florida is not very exciting. When I was very young, my family and I lived in Kings Bay, Georgia and I did pass by that area. If I had been more prepared, I probably would have asked my parents what our address was and would have done a drive by. Oh well.
We arrived in the early evening on Friday, had dinner and Ryan and I drank a couple of bottles of wine (Sorry, Kaitlyn!) while we caught up on life. The next day, Kaitlyn and I did a little shopping before coming home to hang by the pool. Ryan even took Luna in the pool! Wouldn’t say she loved it, but by Day 2, she wasn’t exactly fighting him on it either.

On Sunday, Kaitlyn’s stepfather took us out on his boat to a cool little oceanside restaurant for lunch. It was a perfect day for boating. The restaurant was cute. Reminded me of St. John a bit. Nothing fancy, but good beachside cuisine and a great view.
After lunch we went to a friend of Kaitlyn & Ryan’s to watch football.
Unfortunately, there was a pretty bad Red Tide going on, so we couldn’t go to the beach with the dogs, but Ryan made up for it by tiring them out in the pool that evening.
It was a great weekend just relaxing and catching up. Definitely looking forward to seeing them again soon.
Off to the West!
Lesson of the Day: Take the path that takes you to see more friends when given the opportunity.
