Stop #47: Hot Springs Village, AR

Stop #47: This is a repeat stop but a great one and one I wish we could have spent a lot longer at. Luna agrees. After leaving Fort Worth, we headed back to Lola & Papa’s house for the night. We made great time, although I did have to stop at Walmart to get new wheel chocks after the spider incident.

It was a great, albeit very brief stop. Great homemade stir fry for dinner (chef Lola) and the family favorite, Zucchini, Onions and Eggs (chef Papa) for breakfast. The weather had really cooled down since my previous visit and Papa, Luna and I took a nice walk before packing up and heading out. It was much more comfortable than a few weeks prior.

Luna loves it here.

Luna didn’t want to leave, but it’s time to continue on our way home: 350 miles down, 1,500 miles to go. Leaving this time felt different. I’m not sure if it was being with family again or the the mental shift I’ve made now that the rig is all back together and we are officially heading home. It has been an amazing journey, but the feeling of going back to my friends and much of my family is somehow a feeling of “relief.” Perhaps it’s the excitement and anticipation of what the next journey will be, or perhaps it’s my body telling me that enough is enough – you’ve been gone long enough, stop pushing your luck, lady.

I also have this other strange feeling because I feel like I should be back home tomorrow. I think it’s because other times (except the last time) I have left my grandparents and flown home, so there isn’t 1,500 miles and four overnights between their house and mine. The last time I knew I wasn’t going straight home, so that was different altogether. It’s very tempting to just try to drive straight through without stopping, just to be there. I’ve run this idea past a couple of people and the unanimous decision is that would be at TERRIBLE idea. Ok ok ok…slow and steady.

On we go to Tennessee.

Lesson of the Day: Always make a second stop at your grandparents’. It’s never enough.
